Robert “Mac” McIntyre, age 72 of Howell, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018. He was born March 23, 1945 in Detroit to Robert and Barbara (Foxton) McIntyre. Mac served his country proudly as a United States Marine during the Vietnam War where he was wounded and awarded a Purple Heart. He then became a police officer with the Detroit Police Department until 1995 when he retired after 26 distinguished years of service as a highly decorated sergeant. Mac was married to Carolyn Gardner on April 9, 1994 in Livonia moving to Howell a short time later where they made their home for the past 22 years. Mac was a caring grandfather who also cherished his dogs. He was a member of the Howell Marine Corps League and loved his country. Mac had a passion for golf and a good cribbage game with friends. He is survived by his wife Carolyn; step sons: William, Darren (Bernadette); grandchildren: Donovan, Anthony, Alexandra; sister: Pat Moore. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 10:30 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. with funeral service beginning at 3:00 P.M. at Keehn Funeral Home, Brighton, Rev. Bill Donahue officiating. Interment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery on Tuesday, February 6, 2018. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project with envelopes available at the funeral home.
